9. Karan Singh Grover
Enlisted in the Planet List Asia’s top 50 sexiest men for two years in a row, 2013 and 2014, and an illustrious television career in the recent past, owing to a number of serials and reality shows, Karan Singh Grover made it to Bollywood,not very long ago. He did two films in 2015, ‘Alone’ and ‘Hate Story 3’, and earned praise for his role in the latter. His upcoming film ‘3 Dev’, in which he plays Vishnu, a satirical comedy, is slated for a 2016 release.
8. Yami Gautam
Born in a Punjabi-Pahari family, she made her television debut with NDTV’s new Imagine channel show ‘Chaand Ke Paar Chalo’, followed by ‘ Raajkumar Aaryyan’. Her striking looks didn’t went unnoticed for long, and when she made her Bollywood debut with ‘Vicky Donor’, a critic quoted ‘ she is a sheer delight to watch, emoting effortlessly’. Later, her inclusion in films such as ‘Action Jackson’ and ‘Badlapur’, consolidated her foothold more firmer than ever. Her next release opposite Hrithik Roshan, is tentatively scheduled for a January 2017 release.
7. Ram Kapoor
Though regarded unconventional in the ways, our actors usually are, Ram Kapoor shattered a number of myths when he made appearance on Zee TV as a male protagonist. Later, he won Indian Telly award for best television actor, three years in a row, starting from 2006. He has enacted in over 15 films as of now, and the for the delightful and methodical actor he is, the film industry needs to make him essay more roles.
6. Rajiv Khandelwal
He played the lead role in one of the Sab TV’s most popular show ever, ‘Left Right Left’. His Bollywood debut was ‘Aamir’, a critically acclaimed thriller, and his role in particular received widespread acclaim. He has yet to make a claim for his place in the industry, but still, our knowledge of his impeccable talent tells that it can be happening anytime sooner than later.
5. Prachi Desai
She gained instant popularity amidst the television audiences when ‘Kasamh Se’ aired on Zee TV. Thereafter, she won the dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ in 2007’. She made her Bollywood debut with the National Award winning film ‘Rock On’ in 2008. Her career since then, has been calm and steady. Recently, she played the first wife of cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin’s in his biopic film ‘Azhar’. She will reprise her role of ‘Sakshi’ in ‘Rock On’ sequel,slated for a late 2016 release.
4. Pulkit Samrat
He got recognition playing ‘Lakshya Virani’ in the longest running soap opera in the history of television, ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. Unlike, his Bollywood debut with ‘Bittoo Boss’ wasn’t as impactful, still enough to earn him other roles in the future, such as in ‘Fukrey’ and ‘Sanam Re’. Both films emerge victorious at the box-office.
3. Sushant Singh Rajput
He is a winner of national level physics Olympiad, cleared eleven engineering entrance exams, and left his engineering in the pre-final year to pursue a career in acting which he found as ‘extremely liberating’. He gained popularity portraying ‘Manav Deshmukh’ in Pavitra Rishta. When Bollywood came knocking at his doorstep with ‘Kai Po Che’, he proved his mettle and earned three best debut awards. Thanks to the role he has grabbed for his next film, a biopic of the magnificent ‘Mahendra Singh Dhoni’, the entire country is looking forward to it.
2. Vidya Balan
For the past decade, the one who truly has pioneered change in female protagonist roles in Bollywood, is Vidya Balan. From Parineeta to The Dirty Picture; from Kahaani to No One Killed Jessica; she has portrayed numerous unforgettable roles, in a manner as convincing as it can be. Meanwhile, most of us are unaware of the fact that, she too, started her career with a sitcom on Zee TV. ‘Hum Paanch’, which aired in 1995 and since has accumulated cult status, in the genre of comedy.
